In this guide, we will introduce you to the core concepts and know-hows of how Groov works.

The Groov platform

Groov is one of the first of its kind open finance platform, connecting open & closed loop point of sale & card payment providers including other SMB account portfolio providers, with a view to create a single ledger view of a SMB and allow SMB service providers to create innovative products for their customers. We have an extensive portfolio of API-based as well as plug n play products, all delivered through an enterprise-grade Platform as a Service where connections to all such providers and products are accessible via an unified API.

Developer experience has been at the core of our product design and thinking. Such design philosophy allows us to follow design ground rules rooted in common sense, follow common standards, thoughtful nomenclature, all such enhancing the way a developer engages with Groov

  • All our products are based on the Unified API and follow a similar architecture pattern. Every Groov integration should feel the same.
  • We adhere to the latest and enhanced security standards (OAuth 2.0, TLS)
  • Interoperability resides across all our product offerings
  • We support data at scale and are fully cloud based.

We also provide developers and non developers of an institution with a range of value added tools and resources as part of default Groov offering:

Portal: The Groov Portal is the default dashboard/account that lets you manage and customise/white label Groovs product offerings.

Documentation: Well-written, easy-to-follow implementation guides, API reference using Swagger

SDKs: TBC

How does it work?

a. Consent & Authorise: The service handles the authorisation technicalities/setup and manages the OAuth connections and consent management flows. It requires authorisation from the customer sharing their data to establish a connection to the their external account data source, before data can be pulled. Institutions have the following options for the user experience their customers will follow to authorise the sharing of their account data:

i. Use white labelled CONNECT product - low code and mostly config; OR

ii. Implement their own front end user journey powered by unified API - requires technical development

b. Connect & Synch: The service once authorised will establish ongoing connectivity with the external account data source, pull the data & synchronise on on ongoing basis.

c. Standardise & Aggregate: The service will ingest, map, validate, process & standardise the external account data to present it via the unified API

d. Ledger API Experience Management: Institutions have the following options for the unified data consumption on their respective platforms/applications:

i. Tap on Groov’s unified API and integrate to their existing front end user journey - requires API development

ii. Use white labelled EXPERIENCE product to embed our prebuilt front end presentation layer to their existing application via web/app mode - low code plug & play setup
